A railroad heavy work truck, without its four-wheel drive engaged during treacherous weather, struck a company van transporting a 34 year old engineer. The engineer suffered injuries to his cervical spine, shoulder, elbow and knee which required multiple surgeries to repair. The defendant railroad offered $400,000 prior to trial.
